Episode 1: Planetary Exploration
Location: Thorynthar, Zyntheria Prime
Shutting down the console he stood and faced the door. Myron was still admiring the artwork. He thought for a moment. Not really sure what to do. Should he tell them? Should he not? Standing up, he walked and stepped out of the office. Myron turned to look at him. She smiled at hims. She was at least a foot shorter than he was. “Let’s take a walk.” She held out her hand to him. Still smiling. Taking it she led him down the stairs and outside to the garden.
There was a long silence as they walked through the many varieties of plants. She was the one to break the silence. “I know.” She started, “I know how you feel. I am not a fan of the old traditions either. Unfortunately, we are the royalty of Zyntheria Prime. So we don’t have an option.” The two kept walking. That thought about saying something, but she continued. “I want to go to the Aeliryn Academy of Science. I am starting next year.”
“That’s great Myren.” Thar was happy for her. They had known. Each other since his Vyran’Kelthari, the Coming-of-Age trials. It’s when they were introduced. They had a young love then. For the next few years they were loving each other. Then he made the decision to join Starfleet. His family was angry with him. Her family was angry with him. Words and insults were exchanged, and he left. He didn’t return home for almost 6 years. He finally did. Myren was still waiting for him. He was extremely hurt by the words, actions, and threats so he didn’t care to see her, but she didn’t give up. Now almost 18 years after his Vyran’Kelthari, she still was there.
“Science opens up a whole new world.” She said, “I finished my prerequisites last year.” She paused. Stopped him. “Okay Thar. I need to know. Are you going to hide behind Starfleet? Are we going to get married? Or do we need to tal’nor’kari?” Did she just ask him for a divorce? “I am not giving you an ultimatum. I still want to marry you. And this isn’t my family talking. It’s me. I haven’t stopped loving you. Even with those awful things I said. I could never get myself to come to you.” She paused again and looked up into his bright orange eyes. Her violet ones meet his, “And I regret it everyday.”
Those eyes. The eyes that he fell in love with all those years ago. He didn’t want to marry her because he had too, he wanted to marry her because he loved her. He realized that he was talking in his head and not out loud. He opened his mouth to speak, “I want to marry for love. Not tradition.”
“What if they happen to coincide?”
“Then it will make both of our families happy.”
Now their faces were inches apart. Their lips touched. He embraced her. The feelings started to rush back. This was love.

The sun had gone down. Dinner was put away. Everyone had gone to bed, except for two who were rekindling their love. They laid naked next to each other, looking up at the stars on the balcony. Myren’s hand ran through Thar’s chest hair and over his muscular form. His arm was around her body, her smooth skin felt refreshing. They lay in silence. It wasn’t long before Thar broke it.
“I leave next week.”
“I know.”
“I got a temporary assignment.”
“Oh?” She said whimsically.
“I got temporary command of a science vessel.”
She sat up slowing and looked down at his face, “A command? That’s great! What does that mean for us?”
Tharynos shrugged, “Not much different. I am still going to be away.” He propped himself up on his elbow. “Look. I don’t want to rush this. I don’t want to quickly get married next week just because I am leaving. I need you to think if you want the Starfleet life. You will be here, and I will be out there.”
She cupped his face with both of her hands, “I do want this life. I will be fine here. Plus…” She paused, “We will have plenty of time in our lives.” She gently kissed his lips. Her hands moved down his neck, past his chest, and down to gently grasp him.
